Recap: St. Mary's Academy Crusaders vs. Life Prep Fire
The St. Mary's Academy Crusaders's 15-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 52-29 walloping at the hands of Life Prep on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Mary's Academy has scored all season.
Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thomas Garland , who scored eight points. Another player making a difference was Nick Whitehead , who scored 12 points.
St. Mary's Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Life Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlos Dawkins , who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dawkins has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Rolle Jr, who scored seven points.
This is the second loss in a row for St. Mary's Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Life Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Academy will challenge Varsity Opponent at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Life Prep will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Independent at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Independent is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
