Recap: Lutheran South Academy Pioneers vs. St. John XXIII Lions
The Lutheran South Academy Pioneers were the 61-38 winner over the St. John XXIII Lions when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lutheran South Academy fell 52-42 to St. John XXIII on Friday.
Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makynna Robbins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Robbins has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Annaliese De la pena, who scored 17 points.
Lutheran South Academy now has a losing record at 10-11. As for St. John XXIII, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.
Lutheran South Academy will head out on the road to take on The Woodlands Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Woodlands Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1189th, while Lutheran South Academy is ranked 586th). As for St. John XXIII, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Second Baptist at 6:00 p.m.
