Volleyball Recap: Manvel's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Manvel couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 3-1 to the Stratford Spartans on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mavericks of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Manvel still got an impressive performance from London King, who had 22 assists and nine digs. King has been hot, having posted 17 or more assists the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Guikema, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Stratford was led to victory by Amiyah Foreman-Shaw and Lauren Gioco. Foreman-Shaw had 16 digs and two aces, while Gioco had 12 digs and four assists.

The loss snapped Manvel's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 31-12 record. As for Stratford, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 26-15 record this season.

Manvel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Stratford, they will take on Tompkins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
