Basketball Recap: Forest Comes Up Short

Forest lost against West Port back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Forest Wildcats took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Port Wolf Pack.

It was another big night for Aaliyah Grant, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 20 boards for West Port. Those 20 rebounds gave Grant a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Calise Smith, who went 6 of 14 en route to 13 points along with six assists and six boards.

Forest's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for West Port, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-7.

When Forest and West Port next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Forest will try to stop Seven Rivers Christian's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Forest is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Meanwhile, West Port will face off against Newberry and their seven-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
