Preview: Port Richmond Raiders vs. Erasmus Hall Dutchmen
Port Richmond has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Erasmus Hall Dutchmen at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port Richmond will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Erasmus Hall is ranked 16th).
Last Saturday, Port Richmond sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 23-20 win over Canarsie. The win was just what Port Richmond needed coming off of a 28-0 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Erasmus Hall came tearing into Saturday's match with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Wagner 41-14 on the road. Considering Erasmus Hall has won five matchups by more than 26 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Port Richmond has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. As for Erasmus Hall, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Port Richmond was dealt a bruising 47-0 defeat at the hands of Erasmus Hall in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Port Richmond avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
