Softball Recap: Simsboro Comes Up Short

Simsboro easily dispatched Dodson last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Simsboro Tigers fell just short of the Cedar Creek Cougars by a score of 9-7 on Friday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Callie Harrison and Ciara Caldwell stepped up to the plate in a big way. Harrison scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Caldwell scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Caldwell posted two RBI, the most she's had over her last nine matches. Harley Coon also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Simsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Cedar Creek, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Simsboro has already played their next contest, a 15-5 loss against Stanley on the 8th. As for Cedar Creek, they will square off against Lakeside at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Lakeside's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Cedar Creek's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
