Volleyball Game Preview: Dr. Phillips Panthers vs. Horizon Hawks

After both having extra time off, the Dr. Phillips Panthers and the Horizon Hawks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Dr. Phillips will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Windermere, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday.

Dr. Phillips was especially dominant in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-13, 25-18.

Dr. Phillips' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Cervantes led the charge by getting 11 digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Horizon, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Windermere two weeks ago. The Hawks not only won two weeks ago, but they posted their biggest win since April 3rd (when they won 3-0).

Horizon not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Windermere between 18 and 20 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-20, 25-18.

Horizon pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Dr. Phillips, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
