League recap: Haseley overpowering for First Academy in past week

3A District 5 league recap: 3/27/13

First Academy's Adam Haseley was the best pitcher in 3A District 5 this week. He picked up one win and 13 strikeouts.

Orangewood Christian outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its four total wins led the league. The Rams beat Mount Dora Bible 6-0, Edgewater 3-0, Pine Ridge 6-3 and Bishop Moore 5-3.

The Bulldogs' pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing two hits and five walks to lead the league in both categories.

Orangewood Christian stole 28 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 95 steals on the year.

The league boasted seven .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Kyle Rickerson, who hit .667 by going 2-for-3.



The Royals' Haseley struck out 13 Trinity Prep hitters en route to a 5-0 victory on March 22. Over five innings of work, he gave up three hits and zero runs.

Chadwick Word was an RBI machine on Thursday, as he knocked in four runs during First Academy's 16-6 win over Lipscomb Academy. He went 2-for-2 and scored one run.
