Basketball Game Preview: Miller Grove Wolverines vs. Franklin County Lions

The Miller Grove Wolverines will square off against the Franklin County Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Miller Grove nor Franklin County posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-23, which was the final score in Miller Grove's tilt against Columbia on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Eagles are ranked 142nd).

Defeat or not, Miller Grove got some senior leadership from Arieyona Christion and Kamiya Moore. Christion posted two points along with ten boards and five steals, while Moore scored 11 points. That's the most rebounds Christion has posted since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Miller Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Franklin County posted their closest victory since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They never let Prince Avenue Christian onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. The two-point effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Franklin County's victory bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Miller Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 13-9.
