Baseball Recap: David Anderson Wins Going Away Against Chaney

David Anderson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Chaney on Thursday. The Blue Devils blew past the Cowboys 13-2. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won five in a row.

Bryce Esarey was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ashton Hinchliffe was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Paxton Henthorne also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

David Anderson now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Chaney, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. David Anderson will square off against Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Chaney, they will face off against Rootstown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rovers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
