Basketball Game Preview: Mira Monte Lions vs. South Spartans

The Mira Monte Lions will challenge the South Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Monday, Mira Monte was able to grind out a solid win over Wonderful College Prep Academy, taking the game 65-58.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South). They blew past East Bakersfield, posting a 93-34 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Blades are ranked 1012th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mira Monte has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for South, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Mira Monte won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in December of 2022, slipping by South 55-54. Will Mira Monte repeat their success, or does South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
