Basketball Recap: Berkley Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Berkley Bears didn't have quite enough to beat the Franklin Patriots and fell 57-55. While the Bears didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 16-9 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Berkley lost, don't look at Sam Niyo. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 13 on his way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Young, who posted 12 points.

Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kameron Webster led the charge by putting up 18 points and six assists. Dominic Goines was another key player, going 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points.

Berkley's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Franklin, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Berkley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-27 defeat against Pontiac on the 17th. Franklin will take on Fordson in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Franklin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.
