Baseball Recap: Spanish River Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Brendan, Spanish River was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They skirted past the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs 7-6. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Jesse Chimenti and Domenic Salter made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Chimenti pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Salter tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Chimenti gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. At bat, Chimenti scored a run while going 1-for-5, while Salter scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, Salter posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Cam Brooks looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Sean Beaulieu was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Zack Schwartz, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Spanish River now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spanish River will face off against American Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish River is facing American Heritage at the right time seeing as American Heritage is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they will challenge Wellington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Dr. Joaquin Garcia has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
