Football Recap: Bay Tigers vs. Hancock Hawks
Bay extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were beaten by the Hancock Hawks 48-6. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in September of 2016.
Cameron Garcia threw for 39 yards on five of eight attempts. Brennan Bilich was his top target, picking up 38 receiving yards. On the ground, Kilanta Burt rushed for 55 yards.
Hancock's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Kaison Koenenn was his usual excellent self, rushing for 181 yards and two scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 178 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Koenenn is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season. Majia Talley was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown.
Bay and Hancock will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Bay is set to take on their familiar foe Moss Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hancock will square off against rival Pearl River Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
