Basketball Game Preview: Apollo Eagles vs. Brainerd Warriors

Apollo hasn't had much luck against Brainerd recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Apollo Eagles will welcome the Brainerd Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Apollo has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 248 points over their last three matches.

Apollo took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 79-70 win over Fridley. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Tigers are ranked 380th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Brainerd came up short against Osseo on Saturday and fell 57-49. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Apollo now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Brainerd, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Apollo might still be hurting after the 81-60 loss they got from Brainerd in their previous matchup back in February. Can Apollo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
