Softball Recap: Altha Extends Winning Streak to Three

Altha entered their tilt with Rutherford on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rams a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Not much got past Tarrin McCrone, who gave up just two hits and racked up 18 Ks to keep Rutherford off the board. Those 18 strikeouts gave McCrone a new career-high.

At the plate, Georgia Meeks was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carrington Scott, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Altha's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Rutherford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Altha will head out to take on Sneads at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rutherford, they will venture away from home to challenge Mosley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
