Football Recap: Providence Pioneers vs. Shalhevet Firehawks

Providence lost against Shalhevet back in September, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Providence Pioneers were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to the Shalhevet Firehawks. That makes it the first time this season the Pioneers have let down their home crowd.

Several Pioneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Vivienne Stephenson, who picked up 91 receiving yards and a touchdown. Stephenson also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending three passes. Nikki Villosis also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.

Providence is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8. As for Shalhevet, the win snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-4 record.

Providence will face off against Brentwood School at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brentwood School's defense has only allowed 13.4 points per game this season, so Providence's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Shalhevet, they will take on Windward at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Windward will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Shalhevet surely won't give up without a fight.
