Basketball Recap: Mount Dora Christian Academy's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Mount Dora Christian Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victor by a 56-30 margin over the St. Edward's Pirates on Thursday. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Mount Dora Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anastacia Purdy out in front who went 9-for-17 en route to 22 points. The dominant performance gave Purdy a new career-high in points. Aranya Alexander was another key player, going 5-for-12 on her way to 13 points and five steals.

Mount Dora Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Edward's only racked up seven assists.

Despite the loss, St. Edward's had strong showings from Amajyn Cannon, who posted ten points and eight rebounds, and Shaniya Bryant, who put up four points and seven boards.

The win (which was Mount Dora Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 17-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points over those games. As for St. Edward's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-6.

Mount Dora Christian Academy has already played their next contest, a 55-44 victory against Altamonte Christian on the 18th. St. Edward's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
