Basketball Recap: Ja'marion (Jay) Powell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Webster over Norwood

Webster's tournament run continued when they took on Norwood on Saturday. The Warriors fell 51-42 to the Pirates. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by exactly nine points.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ja'Marion (Jay) Powell, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 12 points and six rebounds. Powell is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hondo Avington, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 12 points and eight boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Bradshaw, who shot 62% from the field en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. Those 19 points gave Bradshaw a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carder Kelly, who posted 13 points and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Webster and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Norwood, their record is now 5-2.

Coming up, Webster will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Norwood will take on Blue Eye in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
