Baseball Game Preview: Holy Name Green Wave vs. Elyria Catholic Panthers

Holy Name is 2-8 against Elyria Catholic since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Green Wave will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Holy Name couldn't beat Chardon on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Green Wave took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilltoppers. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ismael Sostre, Jr. made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Joe Svetz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elyria Catholic). They blew past Oberlin 13-2 on Thursday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Elyria Catholic's win bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Holy Name, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
