It's playoff time, and Ridge Community had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Winter Haven Blue Devils get on the board and left with a 25-0 win on Monday. Considering the Bolts have won six contests by more than 23 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ridge Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antinayah Sims led the charge by rushing for 104 yards and two TDs on only six carries. That's the most rushing yards Sims has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Abegael Benoit, who gained 36 total yards and two touchdowns.
Ridge Community didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Soriah Sone, Jasmine McCray, and Sameeyah Cooper picked up one apiece. Sone is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Ridge Community has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.0 points on average over those games. As for Winter Haven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Coming up, Ridge Community will square off against Haines City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something the Bolts surely won't give up without a fight. Winter Haven does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
