Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Falls Short of Covington in the Playoffs

Faith Christian and Covington squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Faith Christian had to settle for second. They came up short against the Covington Trojans, falling 71-51. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 57-54.

Covington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Curt Slider led the charge by shooting 73% from the field on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Those 17 points gave Slider a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Waddell, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Faith Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 6-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points over those games. The victory got Covington back to even at 13-13.

Faith Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Covington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-40 loss against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 8th.
