Basketball Recap: Melody Duran's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dexter over Mescalero Apache

Dexter lost against Mescalero Apache back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dexter Demons took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mescalero Apache Chiefs. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dexter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melody Duran, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten rebounds, and 11 steals. Duran is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Jayda Flores was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Dexter now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Mescalero Apache, their record now sits at 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dexter will take on Loving at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dexter is facing Loving at the right time seeing as Loving is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mescalero Apache, they will face off against Escalante at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
