Basketball Recap: Bremond Comes Up Short

If Bremond was feeling good fresh off their 62-34 takedown of Iola last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bremond Tigers took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aggieland HomeSchool Panthers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 972nd, while the Panthers are ranked 358th).

When it comes to explaining why Bremond lost, don't look at Jeremy Harris. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Harris is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Jeramiah Morgan was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Aggieland HomeSchool got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Elias Dowell out in front who posted ten points along with seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Justice Bledsoe, who scored 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Bremond has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Aggieland HomeSchool, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Bremond didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-36 defeat against Mumford on the 21st. As for Aggieland HomeSchool, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Houston HomeSchool on February 27th. Aggieland HomeSchool is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.
