Baseball Recap: Sierra Takes a Loss

Sierra extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-15 in the process. They came up short against the Sand Creek Scorpions, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scorpions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-1 on Tuesday.

As for Sand Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Considering they have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Sand Creek's part, Hayden Garcia was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Garcia is becoming a predictor of the Scorpions' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Avyn Walter, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Sierra will face off against Ellicott at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sand Creek, they are taking a road trip to challenge Falcon at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
