Preview: Champion Golden Flashes vs. LaBrae Vikings

Champion is 1-9 against LaBrae since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Champion Golden Flashes will head out on the road to face off against the LaBrae Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Champion pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Garfield. Champion has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Champion's loss came about despite a quality game from Marky Nolan, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 0 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nolan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ian Orwig, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Champion were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, LaBrae's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 64-56 to Newton Falls. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Champion's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-9. As for LaBrae, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.

Champion was taken down by LaBrae 82-49 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Champion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
