Football Recap: Texhoma/Goodwell vs. Mangum Tigers

While it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Texhoma/Goodwell was not quite Mangum's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 20-13 to the Tigers. Texhoma/Goodwell lost against Mangum in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 46-8 score last time.

Mangum got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Remington Laughlin out in front who rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 94 yards and a pair of TDs. The Tigers' leading receiver Zeke Rogers was Laughlin's top target yet again, picking up 70 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

This is the second loss in a row for Texhoma/Goodwell and nudges their season record down to 4-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-0 Thomas-Fay-Custer (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 100% over those games). As for Mangum, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Meanwhile, Mangum is set to challenge their familiar foe Thomas-Fay-Custer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Tigers 6.8, the Terriers 7.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
