Garden City couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 57-21 loss at the hands of the Manhattan Indians on Friday. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Indians recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Carter Aslin had an outrageously good game for Manhattan as he rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries, and also threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes. That's the most total yards Aslin has posted since back in September of 2023. Kha'Mario Davis was another key player, rushing for 69 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.

Garden City will head out to challenge Olathe Northwest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Manhattan, they will take on Lawrence Free State at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
