Baseball Recap: Eminence Comes Up Short

Eminence had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 9-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Henry County Wildcats, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered since April 2nd.

Eminence saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Shaw, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Henry County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

On Henry County's side, Jaylan Hortenbury made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hortenbury has become a key player for Henry County: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. Hortenbury was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Nicholas Bryan was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Josh Shea was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Coming up, Eminence will head out to face off against Frankfort at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Henry County, they will welcome Carroll County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
