Volleyball Recap: Marist's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Marist lost against Alpharetta back in October of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The War Eagles took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders.

While Marist ultimately came up short, they really made Alpharetta work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-21.

Marist lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sawyer Straley, who had 14 digs and one assist. Straley is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

Marist's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Alpharetta, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Coming up, Marist will take on Denmark at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alpharetta, they have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Mount Pisgah Christian on the 16th.
