Softball Game Preview: Cypress Creek Cougars vs. Memorial Mustangs

The Cypress Creek Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Memorial Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Creek's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Memorial's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cypress Creek had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Cypress Ridge on Tuesday. Cypress Creek blew past Cypress Ridge 9-2. The Cougars have beaten the Rams the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rams has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Memorial fell victim to Cy-Fair and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bobcats, falling 13-0. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Memorial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Reese Waggoner, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Cypress Creek's victory bumped their record up to 6-9-1. As for Memorial, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-2.

Cypress Creek might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Memorial in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Cypress Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
