AAA Region VII recap Oct. 3, 2012

Socastee was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating North Myrtle Beach 45-14. The Braves came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.

Socastee extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region VII this week by beating the Chiefs, 45-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Georgetown's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Caleb Hughes threw for 270 and one touchdown and Alvin Walker had 140 yards receiving. On the ground Michael Billings chipped in 72 yards. Tarik Tucker helped Georgetown's passing attack out by catching two balls for 52 yards.

Georgetown's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hughes has thrown for 877 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Walker has 35 catches for 397 yards. Julian Lunsford leads the league in rushing with 574 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Myrtle Beach and the Braves. The Seahawks enters the contest ranked seventh in the state, while Socastee ranks 20th.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when North Myrtle Beach takes on the Bulldogs. Perry Woolbright's team has allowed 110 points this season, while Georgetown has given up 104. The Chiefs allowed 45 points last week as they fell to the Braves.

Myrtle Beach led AAA Region VII in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Wilson.
