Football Game Preview: Hackensack Comets vs. Barringer Blue Bears

The Hackensack Comets will venture away from home to challenge the Barringer Blue Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hackensack hasn't scored more than 13 points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Hackensack is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Ramapo on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Comets had to suffer through a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Raiders are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Barringer came up short against Montclair on Saturday and fell 20-12.

Barringer's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Hackensack, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything came up roses for Hackensack against Barringer when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
