Mammoth is 0-10 against Bishop Union since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Broncos at 3:15 p.m. Mammoth has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Mammoth is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 26 runs last Thursday, they were much more limited against Kern Valley on Friday. They lost 15-2 to the Broncs.
Meanwhile, Bishop Union made easy work of Frazier Mountain on Friday and carried off a 32-1 victory. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Mike Trejo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Trejo was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Brayden Leeson was a standout: he went a perfect 6-for-6 with six runs, three stolen bases, and three doubles. Those six hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Kemp, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI.
Bishop Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .765. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Bishop Union pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mammoth, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.
