Baseball Game Preview: Seneca Valley Screamin' Eagles vs. Damascus Hornets

Seneca Valley is 0-10 against Damascus since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. Seneca Valley will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Damascus at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Seneca Valley is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Kennedy. Seneca Valley put the hurt on Kennedy with a sharp 17-6 win on Friday. The Screamin' Eagles haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Ian Bullie was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Max Awanohara, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Damascus took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against Northwest by a score of 9-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Will Heyse looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justin Witmer, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Lokos, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Damascus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwest only posted an OBP of .344.

Seneca Valley suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Damascus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Seneca Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
