Softball Game Preview: Washington Panthers vs. Morris Warriors

The Washington Panthers will square off against the Morris Warriors at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Morris will be up against a hot Washington team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Panthers' way against Pekin on Tuesday as they made off with a 9-1 win.

Meanwhile, Morris got themselves on the board against Reed-Custer on Thursday, but Reed-Custer never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Comets. The Warriors have beaten the Comets the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Comets has come to flipping the script.

Mylie Hughes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Hughes was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Tessa Shannon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Cami Pfeifer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Morris' victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Washington, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.
