Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Falls Despite Big Games from Aiden Bellavia and TJ Cephus Jr.

After flying high against Oakfield-Alabama last Wednesday, Notre Dame came back down to earth. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell 63-53 to the Batavia Blue Devils on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Irish in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost five in a row.

TJ Cephus Jr. and Aiden Bellavia certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Cephus Jr. went 7 for 13 to rack up 19 points and six boards, while Bellavia went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds. Makyell Walker was another key player, putting up seven points.

Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Batavia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Notre Dame wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-45 win against Attica on the 10th. As for Batavia, they have also already played their next contest, a 63-53 victory against Notre Dame Academy on the 8th.
