Volleyball Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Comes Up Short

If Fountain-Fort Carson was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Mesa Ridge last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Fountain-Fort Carson fell just short of the Sand Creek Scorpions by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Trojans were not able to make up for their defeat to the Scorpions from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Fountain-Fort Carson started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-27, 25-14, 25-17, 15-13.

Roland Clark paced Fountain-Fort Carson's offense, picking up 17 kills. Clark got some help from Myren Johnson and his 38 assists. Johnson also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Devon Bradford, racking up three apiece.

Fountain-Fort Carson moved to 4-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Sand Creek, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-5.

Coming up, Fountain-Fort Carson will be taking part in a tournament against The Vanguard School at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sand Creek, they will take on Doherty in a tournament on Saturday.
