Volleyball Recap: Lucerne Valley Falls to Academy for Academic Excellence in First Game of Season

Lucerne Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Academy for Academic Excellence Knights on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost seven in a row.

Lucerne Valley took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-16, 25-20.

Amaya Kelly paced Lucerne Valley's offense, picking up four kills. Kelly got some help from Kelsie Crossland and her four assists. Annalea Lattin controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Lucerne Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Trona on the 14th. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Norton Science & Language Academy on the 14th.
