Softball Recap: Leon Beats Rickards for Their Third Straight Win

Leon put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Rickards Raiders with a sharp 10-2 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Kamryn Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sara Rose Aikens, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Lamonika Sims was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

Leon pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Rickards, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leon will welcome Chiles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leon knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Chiles likes a good challenge. As for Rickards, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. Rickards is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
