The Muir Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Rialto Knights at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Muir will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
On Thursday, it was close, but Muir sidestepped Polytechnic for a 4-3 win. The four-run effort marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Conrad Hunziker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Kahlil Rishwain was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Eduardo Sosa also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Muir was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Polytechnic only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, Rialto had to kick off their season on the road last Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Garden Grove.
Like Muir, Rialto also got a great game from a two-way player: Izzeah Zepeda. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Zepeda was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Zepeda wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was David Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Hugo Sanchez, who scored a run and stole three bases.
Muir's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Rialto, their record now sits at 1-0.
Muir beat Rialto 3-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Muir since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
