Basketball Recap: Jordan Comes Up Short

Jordan easily dispatched Northern Durham last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Jordan Falcons fell just short of the Hillside Hornets by a score of 61-59 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Falcons have suffered since February 9, 2024.

Despite the loss, Jordan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Julian Lowe went 7-for-14 en route to 19 points. The contest was Lowe's fourth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Bryan, who posted eight points and 16 boards.

Even though they lost, Jordan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Justin Morgan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hillside, putting up 22 points. Khaliq Lassiter was another key player, earning 14 points.

Jordan's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 21-3. As for Hillside, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Jordan has already played their next game, a 61-45 victory against East Chapel Hill on the 18th. As for Hillside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 79-33 win against Northern Durham on the 17th.
