Baseball Game Preview: Owensboro Catholic Aces vs. Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers

The Owensboro Catholic Aces will head out to face off against the Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Owensboro Catholic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Owensboro Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Apollo and fell 5-3.

Owensboro Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Heistand, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Breckinridge County has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.75 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They lost 10-4 to Campbellsville. The match marked the Fighting Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Owensboro Catholic's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Breckinridge County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Owensboro Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Breckinridge County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
