Softball Recap: Sarasota Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Sarasota got themselves on the board against Belleview on Saturday, but Belleview never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Rattlers. The result was nothing new for the Sailors, who have now won ten matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Sarasota let Carley Ramsden and Mady Pint run wild. Ramsden went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Pint went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Ramsden a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sommer Speers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Sarasota lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Sarasota is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. Belleview now has a losing record of 6-7.

Sarasota didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-0 win against Yulee on the 29th. As for Belleview, they will head out on the road to take on Leesburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
