Soccer Game Preview: Haywood vs. Brighton

The Haywood Tomcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Brighton Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Haywood's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Haywood is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Fayette Ware on Thursday. The Tomcats fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brighton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Millington Central on Friday. Considering Brighton have won four matches by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Brighton pushed their record up to 6-6-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three contests. As for Haywood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9-1.
