Soccer Game Preview: Doherty vs. Vista Ridge

The Doherty Spartans will head out to face off against the Vista Ridge Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Doherty is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Rampart on Thursday. The Spartans fell 2-0 to the Rams.

Meanwhile, Vista Ridge has been on a difficult stretch since their win on September 19. They fell just short of Rampart by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that Vista Ridge have lost by just one goal.

Adan Ortega, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Vista Ridge squad sat out for Tuesday's contest. With Ortega sidelined, Vista Ridge had to make some changes to the lineup. Michael Mote played for 80 minutes having averaged 50 this season and Elijah Smith got 80 vs. an average of 56.7.

Doherty's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Vista Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-2.

Doherty couldn't quite get it done against Vista Ridge when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
