Recap: Rye Thunderbolts vs. St. Mary's Pirates
The Rye Thunderbolts lost against the St. Mary's Pirates back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Rye was dealt a 90-34 defeat at the hands of St. Mary's. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rye in their matchups with St. Mary's: they've now lost four in a row.
Hailey George and Taci Ehrlich certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. George scored ten points, while Ehrlich scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points George has scored all season.
Rye dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.2 points per game. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Rye didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 40-19 loss vs. Manitou Springs on the 9th. St. Mary's has also already played their next match, a 51-28 win against Ellicott on the 10th.
