Football Recap: Gordon-Rushville Comes Up Short

Gordon-Rushville extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. They received a blow as they fell 49-30 to the Chase County Longhorns. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Longhorns since Friday.

Loss or not, Gordon-Rushville got some senior leadership from Daniel Martins and Johnny Ziller. Martins picked up 276 receiving yards and three TDs, while Ziller threw for 416 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt. Martins really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 88 yards. A healthy portion of Ziller's aerial production (114 yards to be exact) also went to Jaxon Kearns.

Chase County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. They haven't had any issues with Gordon-Rushville recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Tate Hubbard went supernova, rushing for 175 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries, while also catching one TD. Jaqueb Hoover was another key player, rushing for 116 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries.

Coming up, Gordon-Rushville will head out to challenge Gibbon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chase County, they will welcome Cozad on Friday.
