            Softball Recap: Cooperstown Hawkeyes vs. Oriskany Skyhawks        
        
		
        
        
            Cooperstown gave up the first  runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them  down. They walked away with  a   9-4  victory over the Oriskany Skyhawks. The Hawkeyes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Skyhawks, too.
 Emerson Lippitt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four  runs (all of which were unearned)  on two hits and racked up ten Ks.
 On the hitting side, Cooperstown got a big performance out of  Katie Crippen, who  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base, two  RBI,  and one  run. Crippen is  on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as she's  now  snagged  at least one in each of the last three games she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Evie Baldo, who  went 3-for-4 with two  stolen bases and one  run.

Cooperstown pushed their record up to 7-1 with the  win, which was their fifth straight  on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.2 runs. As for Oriskany, their loss  ended  a  13-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 2-5.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cooperstown will challenge Morrisville-Eaton at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Oriskany, they will square off against Adirondack at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Skyhawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.1  runs per game this season.
