After losing to Chaparral the last time they met, Horizon decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Huskies blew past the Firebirds 38-16 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won five contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dylan Brush led the charge by rushing for 110 yards and one TD on only nine carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Giraud, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Horizon proved: they limited Chaparral to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least seven total tackles, Gage Lee stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (2.5 for loss). Horizon didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.3.
The win made it two in a row for Horizon and bumps their season record up to 8-2. As for Chaparral, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
As of now, neither Horizon nor the Firebirds have any future games scheduled.
